Arab Loutfi

Film maker, writer and journalist.
Film Faculty at (AUC)

Graduated from the High Cinema Institute 1976, after working for many years on feature films, with Mohammad Khan and Atef Altayeb, she moved to documentary filmmaking.

She directed many films like: “The Upper Gate”, “Jamila’s Mirror” and “Rango”. She was a jury member, Guest of Honor and a visiting Artist in many international film Festivals and Events.

By taking just two steps out of the world which the middle class and intellectuals inhabit she finds a life in which people have their own music, cultural tastes and passions. She started with her film Seven Nights and a Dawn, followed by Rango, then The Egyptian Wedding. Many other films followed including; Short visit, Stories from Gaza, Bird of Prudence, Playing with Democracy, Dark Room Radiant life, Tell Your Tale Little Bird, Over Their Dead Bodies and a Fighter Even When Having Her Morning Tea.
She was a main organizer and Teacher in workshops on Documentary Film making. She is a Journalist a film critic and a writer to many periodicals and Seminars .

She was a jury member in many film festivals including Aljazeera film festival, Dubai International film Festival, Docu-days film festival, Ismailia film festival and others.

She was a Guest of Honor and a visiting Artist in many international film Festivals and Events.

She is an active member in the “Arab Documentary Filmmakers Union”, and the “Egyptian Film Critics Union“

مخرجة، كاتبة وصحفية

عضو في كلية السينما (الجامعة الأمريكية في القاهرة)

تخرجت من المعهد العالي للسينما في القاهرة 1976 . بعد العمل لعدة سنوات في مجال الأفلام الروائية، مع محمد خان و عاطف الطيب، انتقلت الى صناعة الأفلام التسجيلية.

من أفلامها: " البوابة الفوقا"، "مرآة جميلة" و"رانجو". 

شاركت عرب لطفي كعضو لجنة تحكيم في الكثير من المهرجانات السينمائية، كما شاركت في العديد من الفعاليات السينمائية العالمية كضيف شرف أو فنان زائر .

آخذة خطوتين خارج العالم الذي تسكنه الطبقة المتوسطة، وجدت عرب حياة، يعيش فيها الناس بذوقهم الموسيقي، ثقافتهم و شغفهم الخاص. بدأت بفيلمها سبعة ليالي و صبحية، يليه رانجو، ثم الفرح مصري. تلى ذلك العديد من الأفلام التي منها:

زيارة قصيرة، حكايات من غزة، عصفور الحذر، اللعب بالديموقراطية، غرفة مظلمة، حياة مضيئة، احكي يا عصفورة ، على أجسادههم و “ مقاتلة حتى و هي تعد شاي الصباح”.    

عرب لطفي عضو عامل في "اتحاد التسجيليين العرب  "، و"اتحاد نقاد السينما المصري ". .

Director’s Biography
Virna Molina

Virna Molina was born in Buenos Aires in 1975. Her films, co-directed with Ernesto Ardito- obtained 62 international awards. Virna and Ernesto's first film was the documentary feature “Raymundo” (2003), about Raymundo Gleyzer, a filmmaker who disappeared due to the military dictatorship.

2008 and 2017 she made the feature films: Heart of the Factory (2008), Moreno (2013), Alejandra (2013), The Future is ours (2014), and the TV Series for Encuentro Channel, about the main argentine writers: Julio Cortázar, Jorge Luis Borges, Maria Elena Walsh, Alejandra Pizarnik. He won twice the grants Jan Vrijman Fund (IDFA, Netherlands) and Altercine (Montreal).

In 2017 she premiered the fiction film “Symphony for Ana”, co-directed with Ernesto Ardito. The movie was on the bill for six months and won the Russian Film Critics Award at the Moscow Int. Film Festival.

In 2021 Virna finished "Portraits of the Future", her first documentary directed alone, after 20 years of co-direction with Ernesto Ardito. The film had its premiere at IDFA Competition 2021 and it is currently in festival circuit.

“Hitler’s Witch” filmed in pandemic Covid-19, is her last fiction co-directed with E. Ardito. The film will be launched in the next months.

فيرنا مولينا

ولدت فيرنا مولينا في بوينس آيرس عام ١٩٧٥. وحصلت أفلامها التي قامت بإخراجها بالاشتراك مع إرنستو أرديتو على ٦٢ جائزة دولية. وكان فيلمهما الأول هو الفيلم الوثائقي ريموندو (عام ٢٠٠٣)، الذي يدور حول مخرج الأفلام "رايموندو جليزر"، الذي اختفى بسبب الديكتاتورية العسكرية.

في الفترة الواقعة بين ٢٠٠٨ و٢٠١٧ قامت بصناعة الأفلام الطويلة: قلب المصنع (٢٠٠٨)، مورينو (٢٠١٣)، اليخاندرا (٢٠١٣)، المستقبل لنا (٢٠١٤)، والمسلسل التلفزيوني لقناة Encuentro حول الكتاب الأرجنتينيين الرئيسيين: خوليو كورتازار، خورخي لويس بورجيس، ماريا إيلينا والش، وأليخاندرا بيزارنيك. فازت مرتين بمنحة صندوق فريجمان (IDFA، هولندا) و Altercine (مونتريال).

في عام ٢٠١٧ أخرجت فيلمها الروائي "سيمفونية لآنا"، بالاشتراك مع إرنستو أرديتو. فاز بجائزة نقاد السينما الروسية في مهرجان موسكو السينمائي الدولي.

في عام ٢٠٢١، أنهت فيرنا فيلم "صور المستقبل"، وهو أول فيلم وثائقي تقوم بإخراجه بمفردها بعد سنين طويلة من التعاون المشترك مع إرنستو أرديتو. تم عرض الفيلم لأول مرة في مهرجان  IDFA  عام ٢٠٢١ وحاليا يتم عرضه في مهرجانات أخرى.

فيلم "ساحرة هتلر" الذي تم تصويره أثناء تفشي جائحة كوفيد-19، يعد أحدث أفلامها الروائية بالاشتراك مع إرنستو أرديتو. سيتم إطلاق الفيلم خلال الأشهر المقبلة.
