Film Synopsis
This extraordinary film attempts to reconcile two dissimilar approaches to storytelling: the documentary record and the staging of a myth. Filmed over a five-year period, it offers a firsthand look at the experiences of Andean Indigenous groups, ranging from submission to organization to the struggle of survival as cultures. These people have fought and are still fighting today – for the recovery of their lands; a process they view as critical to their culture and history. The film emphasizes the significance of this moment and what it means for them to “see the past politically, and think about the present historically.” This experimental approach, while artistic, preserves the context in which it is produced. It focuses on thought processes, and it attempts to show how the subconscious and the dialectic of a culture interact within their reality: devils and feudal lords or landowners, serfs and duels, analysis and poetry, organization and magic, myth and ideology.

Director’s Biography
Marta Rodriguez was born in Bogota, Colombia on December 1, 1933. She studied sociology and anthropology at the National University of Colombia. In 1961 she traveled to Paris, France to study cinema and ethnology with Jean Rouch, Cinema Verite movement, who became a major influence in her life and work. In 1971, Rodriguez filmed her first documentary, Chircales in Colombia which was recognized as a Classic work of the Latin American documentary movement. During her 54 year long career, she had been focusing on the struggles of various communities within the diverse Colombian society. In addition to being the pioneer of documentary cinema in all of Latin America, Marta Rodriguez has also initiated the indigenous documentary film movement through which she held countless workshops with the native communities and trained them in order to document their own struggles through cinematography. Marta Rodriguez received a myriad of the highest awards available in her field. Many prestigious festivals worldwide dedicated countless film retrospectives to her works, such recently at Berlinale, Germany.

Ula Tabari is a Palestinian cinematographer, born in Nazareth. She is an actress, director and language coach for actors, especially foreigners, who played roles in Arabic such as Juliette Binoche, Said Amadis, Edgar Ramirez, Ulrich Tukor, Lubna Azabal among others. Tabari has supported several screenwriters and filmmakers/ women directors in writing and directing their documentary and feature film projects. She also supervised researches of postgraduate film students in France. She worked as an artistic consultant in several cultural and artistic projects in Europe, where she’s been living since 1998. Tabari is known for her political commitment and dedication to the identity and belonging of the people of occupied Palestine who hold Israeli nationality and remained in their country after the establishment of the Zionist state, even though most of them were internally displaced. She is also famed for her critical vision that seeks to strengthen the historical, legal and political credibility in the artistic work. Her last screen appearance was in the role of Madame Gigi in the Syrian-French film "My Favorite Fabric" by Gaya Gigi, which was shown at Cannes 2018. Among the films she directed are the two documentaries: “Personal Investigation” in 2002, and “Jinga 48" in 2008, in addition to the short fiction film "Diaspora" in 2005.

علا طبري سينمائية فلسطينية من مواليد مدينة الناصرة. ممثلة ، مخرجة ومدربة لغوية للممثلين خاصة الأجانب منهم الذين قاموا بأداء ادوار باللغه العربيه امثال جوليت بينوش، سعيد اماديس، إدغار راميريز، أولريش توكور، لبنى الزبال وغيرهم. رافقت العديد من كتاب السيناريو والمخرجات/المخرجين في مسار كتابة مشاريعهم السينمائية الوثائقية والروائية وتطبيقها. كما رافقت أبحاث طلاب الدراسات السينمائية العليا في فرنسا. عملت كمستشارة فنية في عدة مشاريع ثقافية وفنية في أوروبا حيث تعيش من 1998. عرفت بالتزامها السياسي وتخصصها فيما يتعلق بهوية وانتماء أبناء فلسطين المحتلة عام 48 حاملي الجنسية الإسرائيلية وهم الباقون في بلادهم بعد قيام الدولة الصهيونية وأن تم تهجير معظمهم داخليا كما عرفت برؤيتها النقدية في سبيل تعزيز المصداقية التاريخية الحقوقية والسياسية في العمل الفني. كان اخر ظهور لها على الشاشة في دور مدام جيجي في الفيلم السوري الفرنسي "قماشتي المفضلة" للمخرجة غايا جيجي والذي عرض في مهرجان كان ٢٠١٨ ويعرف من أعمالها الاخراجية ، الفيلم الوثائقي :خلقنا وعلقنا" 2002، جنغا 48" 2008 والفيلم الروائي القصير "شتات" 2005
