Synopsis

The Romanian care-worker, Marina tells of her daily life employed 24/7 in a German private home; of the conflict of carrying out vital emotional work whilst having to live far away from her own family. Performing invisible work in isolation in the house of an old man, Marina becomes a personification of ‘East European cheap labour’.

Director Biography

Julia Roesler was born in 1978 in Germany. She studied “Cultural Studies and Aesthetic praxis” at the Universität Hildesheim, Freiburg and Argentina. Since her diploma, she has worked as a freelance theatre director and theatre educator. She is a regularly visiting lecturer at HBK Brunswick. She is the co-founder of the independent theatre company WERKGRUPPE2, working in the company management and directing all of their productions.
